Eye Kinetics

Just like any other muscle in the body, the eye muscles can also be strengthened and improved.
Strengthening (exercising) of the eye muscles lead to smooth muscular movement that is necessary for reading.

Laughter Therapy

We combine breathing exercises with laughter exercises to improve the flow of oxygen to the brain.
Laughter therapy causes positive changes in the body, brain and emotions. Known benefits of laughter therapy includes de-stressing, improves immune system, oxygen to the brain, circulation, emotional intelligence and social- and emotional development.

Brain Gym

Brain Gym is a series of small body movements used to integrate all parts of the brain to enhance learning. The movements of Brain Gym help the child to strengthen the nerve-endings between all his senses and brain, by the repetition of easy exercises.
Brain Gym focuses on the physical and not the cognitive aspects of reading and learning. When the physical working of the brain is strengthened and improved the reading- and learning process will also be strengthened and improved. Good physical development means that both ears, eyes, hands, feet and senses work together like one practised team.

Reading Skills

There are different ways of reading, which are used for different reasons or purposes.

We focus on scan-, search-, recreational- and intensive reading skills.

Handle therapy includes several exercises which strengthens the underlying Microsystems in order to make the body work optimally as a unit or macro system. Human functioning is of eco systemic nature, in other words, all systems in the body work together as a whole and form a unit. Through exercise the weaker Microsystems are strengthened and therefore the functioning of the child will benefit because of this. An activity like “crazy straw” will for instance improve eye movement, articulation, tongue and lip control, sound sensitivity and blow control, in other words several macro systems are strengthened by one exercise to make the body function as a macro system.

Basic Skills

Basic skills of reading are equivalent to the foundation of reading. This has to be on standard on the development phase of reading (gr 1-3). Students whose basic skills of reading are therefore not in place, will experience reading problems. For the latter reason, the basic skills therefore have to receive the most attention. We always work from concrete to abstract. Only after the basic skills are on standard, you may commence to the abstract, namely spelling and language rules.

Study Course

Our 3-day study course is based on brain dominance. Each student’s ideal study method is unique and will be explored. Learn how to study, summarise, plan ahead, remember easily and use your new found knowledge about brain dominance.

NBI Brain Profiles

Knowing your personal brain profile is the key to success and happiness in your career, relationships and personal well-being. The NBI Brain Profiles are instruments used to identify thinking preferences. Why is it that some students prefer a quiet environment whilst others seem to work well with loud music and a messy workplace? Why are some students keen on Maths and Science whilst others prefer the arts and humanities?
Subject choices at school – and a career choice a little later – are key decisions for EVERY student! Making the wrong choices can often lead to poor performance and years of frustration for the student, the teachers and of course the parents. Making an informed decision on the other hand can lead to a lot of satisfaction and achievement as a student as well as an interesting and rewarding career.

Statistics & famous dyslexics

Albert Einstein, the greatest scientist of all times, is the name we most commonly associate with genius, only started reading by age 11. By the age of twelve he was a brilliant mathematician and physicist, despite not being gifted in language.

After the initial assessment the result will be discussed with you, after which therapy will be done on a weekly basis.
Progress is monitored and you will receive a progress report at the end of each term.
Students receive therapy once a week for one and a half hours or forty five minutes, depending on the test results.

Initial 1 hour evaluation session, with feedback to the parents – R500 (Once-off).
Should the student choose to enrol with us, the cost is R120 per week for an hour and a half class.

We also offer study courses from Gr 4 to adults.
The course comprises of 3 hours a day for 3 days and costs R1200.

Profile of a child with a reading problem

  • Problems distinguising foreground from background
  • Problems with laterality
  • Right brain dominant
  • Excellent mathematical skills
  • Switch words around in the spoken language
  • Bad handwriting
  • Above average intelligence
  • Poor self image

We are the best, why?

We do a scientific test of your child’s reading; therefore we know how to address the problem. We work systemically, by addressing all relevant aspects associated with reading, i.e. eye kinetics and handle therapy which allow all micro systems in the body to work together as one big macro system. We also take all students’ brain profile into consideration. Our results are the guarantee! We guarantee an 8% to as high as 40% improvement in a student’s average performance at school. When the “tool of life” = READING, is on standard, we conduct study courses, in order to assist the students to use their “tool” correctly.
